Fixed: Known Payment Loophole as of 25 March 2014

***** See the solution to this issue here. *****

We’ve been auditing our credit card processing through Stripe and found an operations loophole that we wanted to alert you about.

It has always been the case that you can record credit card charges in R.W. Elephant that you don’t actually process through Stripe (just like you can record Cash or Check payments). Because of this feature, it is possible to mistakenly record a payment that you might actually be intending to process & record simultaneously. This can occur if there is no card number entered or no specific card selected before the friendly “Enter Payment” button is clicked.

To put it simply, it is possible to think you charged someone without really charging them.

We are working on solution to alert you to confirm your choice to record without processing future payments in real-time but we wanted to bring it to your attention right away.

In the meantime, please be sure that you double check to type in a credit card number (along with expiration and security code) when processing a card -OR- choose a particular card from the drop down menu. If you don’t do one of these things, you’ll record a payment without actually running the card. And we want you to get all the money you deserve!
