To be honest, even though I have a degree in English Literature, I don’t spend a lot of time these days reading. I wish I did but I get to the end of a hectic day and just want to veg. However, I recently took a business trip sans kiddo and husband and was able to get into a few books. As we begin the summer, I thought I’d share a few books and blogs I’ve been trying to soak in lately.
- While I sometimes think a paperback is the more romantic way to read, I recently got Think Like a Freak by Dubner & Levitt on my kindle and have had a hard time putting it down. I mean, who doesn’t want to think smarter about almost anything?
- Sure this next one isn’t a business book, but I’m all about being a whole soul so East of Eden by Steinbeck has been a good read. While Steinbeck didn’t strike my fancy as a high schooler reading The Grapes of Wrath, I now find his writing rich and beautiful. East of Eden is one of TWH’s favorite novels so I thought I had better give it a go and I’m glad I have.
- As usual, I’ve been digging Seth Godin’s Blog. I enjoy his succinct, powerful thoughts streaming to my inbox on a daily basis.
- Jenny Shih, a new resource to me, is teaching me how to grow my lists. While I can’t say herGet 1000 Subscribers course is all about reading exactly, it is definitely a source of learning for me so I’m including it here.
The trip I recently took that allowed me to crack open a book was to the Poconos Mountains of Pennsylvania. While the space and people I met were equally beautiful, I also really enjoyed hearing from Kristen Kalp of Brand Camp. I find her perspective on creating meaning in your business refreshing. And as a byproduct, I can’t wait to read Love Does by Bob Goff.
Happy reading!
