All of the theme files are .php, but you will not be writing advanced php.
Write normal html and CSS. The words in the [brackets] are php. They pull different bits of content from your rw-elephant page. If you remove one of the [brackets], the content won’t appear. [brackets] can be wrapped with html and the content created by the [brackets] can be styled with css.
TO GET STARTED!
1. Go to wp-content
2. Create a folder called “rw-elephant-templates” (see image)
3. Place your custom .php and your style.css files in this folder. You only need to place the files that you have made changes to.
WHAT FILES DO I CREATE?
It depends on what part you want to modify. The plugin is divided into small, managable chunks. Some chunks are nested into other chuncks. Some chunks are stacked onto other chunks. Any css that you add to the style sheet will be added to every page of the plugin.
The basic files to know are
You can copy the files from the rw-elephant-plugin (see image) as a starting point. From there, you can add html and style with css as normal. Try to limit your css to one class per tag.

HOW TO CREATE HOVER CATEGORY IMAGES
This code assumes your category images are 300px wide. If your images are smaller, change the 300px to fit your image.
HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM CATEGORY WITH TAGS
Custom categories are created with tags. Let’s say we wanted to link to all items with the tag ‘red’.
First, we add the tag ‘red’ to all of our ‘red’ items from the RW-Elephant page.
Second, we go to our website and navigate to one of these ‘red’ items. In this case, we navigated to a couch. Third, we looked in our list of tags for the ‘red’ tag and clicked on it (see image)
Fifth, we copied the url for the ‘red’ tag page (image) to use in our custom link.
If we wanted to create and ‘all’ category, we simply add the tag ‘all’ to all of our items in RW-Elephant and repeat the process.
If we wanted this custom tag to show up next to the automatically generated categories, we would add a link to the tag either before or after the [category_list] in your custom copy of categories.php
You will need to choose a custom image and a category name for each one.
This is a template for the basic code you need. You may need to adjust the classes based on your theme or any modifications you may have made.
